Yoga & Veganism

It seems that by combining a vegan diet with regular yoga practice you can reduce your risk of illness. Common sense would perhaps tell you that this is the case yet some people seem to lack common sense so let’s talk about it! A vegan diet is a diet based on eating plant food, food which has never been alive. Even though it is possible to be an unhealthy vegan, it is a lot easier to get a healthy variety...

Has your brain shrunk?

We have a challenge for you here at Shout Vegan. If you are over the age of 61 and vegetarian or vegan and feel your brain is not shrinking and you are not losing your marbles we would like to hear from you! This is in response to an article from www.asylum.com which pokes fun at vegetarians and the flippant attitude displayed in this article just downright annoyed us!

Ebay!

Yes, most of use ebay. Admittedly it is a great site where you can easily get what you need when you need it, especailly those items that you may not find elsewhere. However, they also allow items for sale that many would find questionable. I recently found sales for real rabbit skin hats and lots of other real fur items. If you find this as unacceptable as we do here at Shout Vegan then let ebay know about...

Worcestershire sauce

Worcestershire sauce is made from anchovies. So there’s another one getting thrown out of the fridge when I get home! The ingredients are basically anchovies in brine, tamarinds (fruit) in molasses, garlic in vinegar, chillies, shallots, cloves and sugar. The mixture sits for around two years being stirred occasionally and then drained and bottled. Doesn’t sound so nice with the veggie hot pot...

Giant Burger. Giant Selfish Idiot.

When I have time, I like to look at the news sites, especially trying to catch hold of the smaller stories, as I believe these often tell you more about the state of the world. Today is no exception. On the Sky News website is a story about this smug meat eater, proud of himself for eating an enormous amount of animal flesh. The media too see this as something of an achievement rather than a disgraceful publicity...

Les Fumees Blanches

Les Fumees Blanches Sauvingnon Blanc 2007, France This wine finally arrived after ordering it three weeks ago so I was really glad that it was a good choice! The wine is a little sweeter than I usually choose, usually I opt for a dry white wine (and pay the consequences with a dry throat in the night if I have a glass too many!) so I was a little unsure on the first taste, however the flavours soon hit the...

Is the contraceptive pill vegan?

As a vegan, I am very careful about the products I choose to buy. It alarmed me when I did become a vegan, just how many bits of animals are in products you just would not think of. I had the food covered and after a lot of detective work, think I have this pretty much under control. When I realised that there were bits of animals bodies in flavouring, E-numbers and so on I became pretty good at reading labels....
