Cruelty Free Living Festival

Find out how you can save animals at the 2008 Sydney Cruelty Free Living Festival on Sunday 2 November. Come along for a fun-filled day of live entertainment and discover which companies test on animals, learn how to volunteer with an animal rescue group, sponsor a rescued sun-bear or baby orang-utan, try delicious vegan food, adopt a homeless cat or dog and much more.

Centrally located Belmore Park in Haymarket will be the setting for the Festival which features two stages of live entertainment with performances by local bands: The Black Stars, The Heartbreak Club, Denham Reagh and Liz Bowie, from Queensland: Rachael Brady, Sonic Porno and Leigh-Chantelle and from Victoria: Rosie Burgess. Blackie from iconic Australian band The Hard-Ons will be performing an acoustic set and our special guest host for the day is “The Doctor” from Triple JTV and the Triple J morning crew.

In addition to the bands we are pleased to announce that celebrity chef Suzy Spoon with be running cooking demonstrations along with Sydney chef Leigh Drew who will be launching her new cookbook on the day. And, after the huge response they got last year, we couldn’t have a festival without the Cabaret Arabia belly-dance troupe! With beautiful costumes, music and dancers, Cabaret Arabia brings the stage alive.
For people wanting to wind down, the Sydney Buddhist Centre will lead a guided meditation and Yoga in Daily Life instructors will hold open air yoga classes. There will be plenty of fun for kids too with performance, face painting, craft and more.

In between bands, demos and performances you can browse through over 60 stalls laden with cruelty free products and delicious vegan food (including an Animals Australia stall). All major animal rights & rescue charities will be represented so you can find out how you can help stop animal cruelty in its many forms.

Be sure to put the 2nd of November in your diary for a fun-filled day of feasting, learning and entertainment!
