Living in Norway makes it a little more challenging when buying wine as the only store licensed to sell wine is the government owned Vinmonopol (Wine Monopoly). After learning only last week that mose wines use fish bladder or egg whites in the production process I began searching for wines sold at the Vinmonopol. I obtained a brochure which told me everything I needed to know about the wine except if it was classed as vegetarian or vegan. Lists of wines via country came easy. What was tricky was finding ones that do not contain traces of animals or use animals in production. I found the section on ecological wines in the brochure (the stores only stock a small selection) and started from there (minimising my chances of consuming lots of other unknown ingredients lurking in my glass!). Then I researched each wine on the net and found 2! Yes 2!! (Hmm, yes, I have only been through the French section as of yet so there may be some gems waiting for me to find them later!).I have ordered said wines and will review them in case you find yourself in such a position! Unlikely but possible! Oh, and I ordered boxes just to make sure I can write a well rounded and informed review!
1: La Cadet Montirius 2006, France. Red
2: Les Fumees Blanches Sauvingnon Blanc 2007, France. In case there are not enough hints, this is White!
So I begin with my first choice, organic, vegan, french wine, then let’s see where my choices lead me. Back soon….
