Shouting about the disgrace of our society. We need to face upto the fact that killing animals is just unacceptable. Do something worthwhile today. Be vegan.
This was the poster which greeted me as I arrived at my local service statiol. An image of beautiful nature, small farm buildings and giant hamburgers in the fields. Are you supposed to feel proud? Great, we murdered these animals and this is what we make! Here’s an idea if you are a meat eater reading this, instead of feeling proud, how about feeling uncomfortable that you are part of a killing process, of taking away life from animals that suffer and experience pain and death for your burger. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, next time you see an advert like this, especially if outside a shop or service station, go in and complain. Explain the advert is offensive and ask if they would take it down or even better ask for the marketing departments details and send in a complaint. If you have a blog or podcast, talk about it. We may feel like we cannot make a difference but if we work together, things can change. These animals are given no respect, worse, no thought at all. If you are going to order a burger today, why not make it a veggie burger.
I used to eat meat, wear leather and basically had the same contempt for animals which I see on a daily basis everywhere I look. I became a vegetarian after seeing newborn lambs prancing around and not wanting to be responsible for them being murdered. I became a vegan when I was thinking of breastfeeding my son and finally understood what the dairy industry is all about. What I know now, I did not know then. No longer living in ignorance, I have no option but to write this blog.
