Shouting about the disgrace of our society. We need to face upto the fact that killing animals is just unacceptable. Do something worthwhile today. Be vegan.
Yes, most people know that we almost killed all the cod in the sea. Yet did you know that the EU have now decided to raise fishing quotas for cod because levels have risen a little? No, that can’t be right, it sounds so stupid…well, it’s true. There will be a 30% increase in the North Sea Quotas. There is still a reduction in the quotas elsewhere, showing that the fish are not doing too well! Fishermen are worried about their jobs and that is partly why the new rules have been passed. The fish don’t have a voice to say that they are worried for their lives, that they don’t much care for the pain (and yes, fish do have nerve endings near the skin – I used to think they didn’t feel pain but they do – hard not to when you get a hook through your mouth or get trapped in a net or even worse when you vomit up your insides and your eyes bulge and pop from the change in pressure).
I think this is a disgraceful attitude to have and shows a complete sense of disregard for animals and gives humanity not just a bad name (oh, those future generations looking back on us again pops into mind) but will also prove us to be ignorant and selfish once more.

I used to eat meat, wear leather and basically had the same contempt for animals which I see on a daily basis everywhere I look. I became a vegetarian after seeing newborn lambs prancing around and not wanting to be responsible for them being murdered. I became a vegan when I was thinking of breastfeeding my son and finally understood what the dairy industry is all about. What I know now, I did not know then. No longer living in ignorance, I have no option but to write this blog.
