Planet V

Very quick post – This is a new website showcasing vegan shops and services. Worth a look, I’ve just signed up VON, the Vegan Organic Network who I do some work for. Hope it takes off, looks a really nice, user friendly site too! Planet V

Ambleside

If you are looking for a vegetarian/vegan break and beautiful countryside then Ambleside could be for you. Having just returned from a long weekend I can highly recommend it. We stayed at a small 5 star boutique hotel (not as costly as you may think, under £300 for a long weekend – similar prices to the rooms above some of the pubs we saw) called Yewfield. Yewfield is a vegetarian hotel, offering quiet...

Goody Good Stuff

A post about vegan sweets, yippee! I had an email last week from a company called Goody Good Stuff asking if I would like to review some sweets…hmm, now let me see? Of course the answer was yes, well actually the answer was ‘I’ll let my children review them’! So in a celebrity fashion I received some free goodies – yes I’m going up in the world, may have to review my stance...

Station Hot Choc :)

I decided to give the car a rest and chose the more environmentally friendly option of using the train last week. Just a short hop to Stockport as I had some work there. On the way back I had a wait at the station and was very pleased to find a new small cafe stall there, called LK Gourmet, where I was able to purchase a soya hot chocolate (and the hot chocolate used was fair trade and contained no milk –...

Vegan Stall

Just back from Manchester, where we were raising vegan and veggie awareness. Just a handful of us, sharing our home-made cakes and savories with the general public, chatting about what it mean to be veggie/vegan and giving out leaflets. It’s been a really good few hours and I’m glad I took the children. It was their first outing as part of the outreach movement! They jumped in with both feet, not...

Windermere Geese to be murdered

Windermere’s ‘polluting’ Canada geese to be culled The geese graze on and pollute the shores of Windermere Continue reading the main story About 200 Canada geese are to be culled in the Lake District. Rangers say the 1,000 geese in Windermere have been causing environmental problems by grazing and polluting the lake with droppings. They insist the cull will be carried out “sensitively”...

Dandelion and Burdock Restaurant

Just been given a rcommendation for this restaurant, situated between Manchester and Leeds. I’m determined to have a ride out and try it – shame I don’t have any good veggie friends locally – but I’m working on it!! May take the kids and make a day out of it. Let you know but in the meantime, here’s the link!  D&B Link

To protest or not to protest?

I’ve been having a thoughful few days. Is life as a vegan enough? Is sharing things about veganism and animal cruelty on blogs and facebook enough. I’ve also been thinking about why I haven’t been more actively invloved and the answer is fear. I don’t want to get in trouble. Yet what would I actually be doing wrong? Standing up and saying that I believe it is wrong to murder or abuse...

Lazy

I’ve not posted for a while, part laziness, part trying to figure out a few things in my life! Things I have discovered since my last post. 1. Vegan and Veggie friends are so important. Not just because they don’t shovel meat down their faces but they most likely share other opinions and viewpoints. If they are compassionate about animals, likely they are compassionate about people too. 2. Support...

Alpro Soya Milk

I have recently become aware that Alpro (and Provomel) have been taken over by a dairy. This sort of conflicts with my idea of not giving money to dairy farms. Does anyone else feel the same? Plus the company doesn’t sound like one I want to support financially. I am now on the hunt for an ethical soya milk so would welcome any suggestions. As I don’t live near a health shop my choices are limited....
